What is Daylight Saving Time?
Daylight Saving Time is the practice of setting the clocks forward by one hour during the summer months and back again in the fall to make better use of natural daylight. The idea behind DST is to save energy and make better use of daylight. The practice was first proposed by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, but it wasn’t until 1916 that Germany became the first country to adopt Daylight Saving Time.
