General Information
Credit recovery is a program in the Garden Grove Unified School District, to help students who are in need of either, making up a class that they have failed, or re-taking a class that they received a D for admissions into a State University. Currently, we have English 1 semesters 1 and 2, English 2 semester 2, Geometry Semester 2, Algebra semester 2, World History Semester 2 and Biology Semester 2. Next semester we will have the same courses, except they will be first semester classes. We will have two start dates for second semester. February 8th will be the start date for all students who have course to take from last year, and they should be able to complete the course by the end of May. The second start date will either be at the end of February, or the first week in March, and will be able to complete the course by the second week in June. Completion of a Credit Recovery course has two elements. The first being academic competency. Students will complete all work assignments and tests and their grade will be determined based on those assessments. Secondly, students need to be in class for 54 hours to receive a grade and the credit for their class. If they have not completed the 54 and have a satisfactory academic performance, students will not receive credit. Both parts must be completed to receive a grade.
First semester, Credit Recovery classes were held Monday and Wednesday’s from 3-5, second semester, there will some Tuesday and Thursday classes as well. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to make up for slipping grades, get back on track for A-G eligibility and credits. If a students needs a course, all they need to do is see Mr. Fulton for an application, have it signed by a parent or guardian, and return the application completed and they will be able to begin the course
